I read that New Year’s Resolutions only last about 2 weeks, so this year I will set a plan of action for the upcoming year. I have slowly worked through most of my 2017 personal goals, and have had success with some of them and will continue on my merry way but my online goals are in a sorry state.
Details of my 2017 Goal post can be found here.
I have been following a low carb diet for three months and have had a great deal of success with maintaining good blood pressure readings and I sleep so much better. I can actually get up in the morning without feeling like I need to sleep for another 8 hours. Wow, I was not expecting that. I have lost a few inches but as I am not exercising I have not actually lot a lot of weight. Still, the benefits in my alertness and state of mind have been fantastic.
Personal Goal one – to continue working on my 2017 goals.
Personal goal two – to at least do some walking to assist my weight loss
Personal goal three – loose 5kg (just under one stone) by the end of 2018. Slowly, but sure to ensure I keep it off.
My online goals, however, have gone nowhere.
Yes, I have learned a lot that I did not know in 2016 thanks to spending hours and hours online each week. I could have taken out shares in YouTube and Google, I feel like I am their biggest user. I think that I have joined and unsubscribed from at least 1000 email lists.
I have looked at building email lists, affiliate marketing, PLR, Amazon, Shopify, and other e-commerce selling, read heaps of books and tip sheets (hence the huge join/unsubscribe), watched bookoo seminars without buying the product at the end – sometimes by sitting on my hands so that they can’t reach the visa.
Yet as I look to 2018 – I ask myself “Have I made up my mind yet about how to make money online”. Unfortunately, the answer is no.
I have at least, because of my Wealthy Affiliate membership, I have started this blog and have a couple of dozen posts on it. Not that good, definitely not great prose or fantastic SEO and I don’t think I have many readers yet but have my fingers crossed. I send everything to my social media profiles and get a couple of likes so not a total loss.
Wealthy Affiliate is a website designed to help people build a website. It has a free as well as paid membership and a wonderful community of people all helping each other try and make a business in the online world. I have been a member for almost a year now and find it a fantastic reference point. I often search online, then search the Wealthy Affiliate community so get a broader point of view. If you would like to have a look around, you can join as a free member through my affiliate link here.
I have booked a flight to China for the Canton Fair, which I could not make last year. So I guess step one underway for Amazon. I still have no idea of what I will sell, I am hoping to get some inspiration from the trip as I ‘look’ at so many products.
I have started to build my social media profiles, slowly but at least have had some results. Twitter just under 2,000 followers, Facebook 400 ‘friends” and one page but not really anything on it, Google 100 followers, Pinterest 18 followers, YouTube 4 (even though they don’t watch my terrible videos), and have just started Instagram this week and have 30 followers.
I will try to reach for the sky with all my goals for 2018.
Goal one – In 2018 I will continue trying to build relationships as I go, and build each social media following up so that when I do have a product to sell, I will have people to tell about it and ask (nicely) to promote for me. I will concentrate on one profile each week. I will also blog about what I am doing, the results I get, or don’t get so my readers can see my results.
Goal two – to spend one day a fortnight, walking around towns and shops looking for products to sell and taking photographs for my Instagram and website portfolio. I don’t have unique photos that I can use on my blog posts that actually relate to the blog topic.
Goal three – to have the first product in my Private Label range to promote within Australia and have it listed on Amazon AU and Amazon USA.
Goal four – to have one tip sheet put together to promote this blog and start to build an email list. I did get some PLR products but found the information on them a load of rot so will make time this year to do my own.
So here’s to a wonderful 2018
