It is New Year’s Day and I am looking forward to a wonderful 2019. I have set my 2019 Goals and started improving my blog.
I have my goals updated, as mentioned in my early blog post, 2019 Goals, and I have spent this morning putting my thoughts into posts.
This is the third post I have composed.
I will have the others set up as a draft so that as that if life gets in the way, I will have posts that I can simply activate at the push of a button.
My posts and my blog may contain affiliate links. If you click on a link and make a purchase I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. You can see full details on my Affiliate Disclosure page.
Why would I do this?
Google, and the other search engines, like to see content added regularly as it shows that your business is still open. Google does not understand that I occasionally want to spend a day or two with loved ones, or even just take a weekend off to enjoy my hobbies.
When you treat your online website as a business, everything you do must be an effort to improve your business. You must think like a business owner and do everything in your power to show that you are serious about your business.
If you had an offline business and decided to take a week off, how do you think customers would react if you just closed the door and put up a sign ‘gone fishing”. Somehow, I feel not too many would come back just to look at the happy snaps.
I highly recommend that you prepare content for your website so that you can just take a few moments, at times like this to publish content.
Why prepare for a rainy day?
Living in the tropics taught me to prepare for a rainy day, or in our case a cyclone. (To those in the northern hemisphere, this is a hurricane.)
Each summer we would stock up on extra fuel for the cars, petrol for the generator, non-perishable foods, batteries and candles, medicines and necessities.
At the first sign of a possible cyclone, the supermarket shelves would be empty of many items.
I am using this mindset to prepare for times when I cannot post on my blog.
If I think I may be unlikely to have internet access, I can easily set a date a couple of days ahead to post one of these pre-prepared posts and I know that it will just happen. Love technology.
It is not a bad idea, if you know that you are likely to have events occur in your life that are beyond your control, to have some posts set up 2,4 and 6 days in advance. As you prepare and publish content, you simply adjust the date of the first post, to the end of the queue or add your new content to the end of the queue. This way, you will have a continual flow of posts during times when you know you may be occupied elsewhere.
This does not mean that you can completely ignore your business. If you have a blog, you still need to respond to comments. If you have an e-commerce site and products to ship, then you need to ensure that someone is able to ship them for you.
Everyone is different, but if you can have a system in place to help you through busy periods, you won’t feel so overwhelmed at stressful times in your life.
Social media is another area that people often overlook when it comes to creating constant material to post. I have some pre-prepared post that simply
Even when you
I also try to post one or two photos to Instagram again with a simple description and a couple of hashtags. Spending half an hour working so that you can take the whole day off and not have a huge impact on your business, is my idea of a job well done.
2019 The year of positivity.
I will be looking at 2019 as being the most positive year of all time. I am eliminating the thoughts and actions that add negativity to my life.
No more, boo hoo poor me. Everything in my life will now be: OK so how do I learn from this and how can I do it better next time. Life is full of lessons, we need to learn from our failures and mistakes.
I am surrounding myself with people who are positive and moving in the same direction as that in which I plan to head.
I will no longer attempt to weave through traffic coming towards me. I will turn around and be pulled along in the direction I want to head. That is, in the direction of learning, growing and adapting so that I can follow my dreams and goals of having a successful online business.
One way that I am moving forward, is through spending time within the wonderful community at Wealthy Affiliate. This community is my mastermind group and contains mainly people who are interested in paying-it-forward and encouraging and offering training and help to others as we each build our own online businesses.
I still have to do the work, no-one else can do it for me, but this wonderful community gives me so much inspiration and motivation.
Wealthy Affiliate is a training program with hosting of your website and within it is a community of people all working in one direction. Forward, and toward building an online business. You can see a full review of this wonderful website on my post What is Wealthy Affiliate all about?
As I begin my 2019 journey, I will be continuing to build and grow both my blog and my social media profiles. Please like, follow and share this with your friends. Make a positive effort to change direction for 2019. You can find social media share buttons at the bottom of this post.
What are you doing to make this the best year yet? I would love to hear your thoughts. Please leave a comment in the comments section below.
