Social Media Update
Hi everyone, just thought I would give you an update on my Social Media for the month of April 2018. I have had a busy month with attending Canton Fair and two fairs in Hong Kong along with a busy work schedule in my offline business.
I have managed to get some Social Media work done although most have been simply following back and liking some posts.
My social media profiles have been steadily growing although in some profiles it seems lots of followers do not seem active.
I have concentrated on following back and simply liking and commenting on a few posts. However, I have spent some time on Pinterest building up boards. I have added some of my own photos as well as repinning. I do feel that I need to get some traffic from social media to my blog and I will start working on that.
I know that a big part of social media is to share others posts but as I often see the same post time and time again, it gets a bit of a pain. I will be trying to do a better mix of reshared posts and original posts to ensure that I don’t peeve people off.
As mentioned in my previous post, I am trying to stop acting like a bot and I have started to slow down with regard to just randomly liking and resharing. I have started to comment more and I will now take time going through my social media profiles trying to identify people who post and those that just follow and unfollow. If people just build numbers and unfollow, then they will never read my content or hear my messages so I may as well not have them clogging up my feed.
I will attempt to try and find programs to help identify those I need to unfollow and to help schedule posts so that I can have regular posting rather than all at once.
In Instagram, I have found a fair few people with very high followings and will be liking and commenting on these posts. I will also be adding hashtags to all my future posts.
A tip to finding Instagram influencers is to go through your YouTube subscriptions. At the top of a lot of their home pages is a link to each social media profiles. Some are small, but most YouTubers that I follow also have a big Instagram account. This would probably work in most niches. I have found many YouTubers to be interested in, and reasonably big in, at least one other social media platform.
A tip for finding Pinterest influencers is to look at boards with a large number of pins. Then hover of the picture of the admin. Often you will find that they have a large following and pin regularly. You will also discover the group boards this way as all contributors are shown. Following influencers often means a good number of pins that already have traction for you to repin.
- Facebook 1200 friends and two pages – still working on building page fans. My second one is called health and beauty my way.
- Twitter 3000 followers.
- LinkedIn – not doing much with this profile, 10 connections.
- Instagram 240 followers, one recent post got 30 likes, double my previous best.
- Google+ -114 followers. I have not been interactive here but have started following more.
- Pinterest 250 followers. I have been reasonably active here but have started following more people and lots of boards.
Small, steady growth and I now get followers added daily. I have found that I am chopping and changing what I do to try and see what works and what attracts bots. As the algorithms keep changing I find a lot of information online to be outdated so am trying to put together a strategy that will work despite changes.
